Position: Survey Technician

Experience Requirement: 2+ years

Job Description: As a Survey Technician you will perform an assortment of technical office and/or field survey related tasks on a multitude of projects for public and private sector clients. You will be responsible for helping ensure projects follow applicable accuracy and technical standards per project requirements. You will assist in the execution and preparation of project deliverables such as plats, maps, reports, electronic AutoCAD drawings, etc. You will work under the direct supervision of a Licensed Land Surveyor. You will be required to lead by example in Lounsbury’s Incident Free Safety Culture we have established.

Skill Requirements: This person should have strong communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment. A basic understanding of land surveying laws, practices, technologies and how they are applied to an assortment of projects is beneficial. You should have a general understanding of some of the following programs: Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, GPS Processing Software, ESRI, and Carlson Survey software. Experience performing Horizontal and Vertical Control, Topographic, Right of Way, Boundary, Construction Layout, and Hydrographic surveys is beneficial. This position could require the ability to perform both office and/or field survey functions though an individual may specialize in one or the other. If needed a willingness to perform your duties at a remote location or office on large scale projects for extended periods of time would also be desired.

Position: Engineer-in-Training (EIT)

Experience Requirement: 2-4 years
Professional Engineering License Required: No; must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Valid Driver’s License Required: Yes, with a clean driving record.
Location: Anchorage or Wasilla, Alaska

Job Description: The successful applicant will provide assistance to senior engineering staff for a variety of design projects in the public and private sectors. As a member of the Lounsbury team, this position will evaluate, select, and apply appropriate engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to develop plans, specifications and estimates on simple to moderately complex projects. You will apply knowledge of civil engineering design principals while working under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer. This position primarily works in an office environment, but may require outdoor work and/or travel to remote Alaska locations.

Position: Project Engineer

Experience Requirement: 4-10 years
Professional Engineering License Required: Alaska PE required, or able to obtain within 6 months.
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Location: Anchorage or Fairbanks, Alaska

Job Description: As a fully-competent engineer, plans and conducts work requiring independent judgement in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for a variety of projects in the public and private sectors. Tasks generally include initiating and developing technical design concepts and details, studies and recommended solutions, and preparing final plans, specifications and cost estimates in accordance with appropriate civil engineering principals. This position primarily works in an office environment, but may require outdoor work and/or travel to remote Alaska locations. The successful applicant will report to senior engineering staff based on team organization for specific projects. For position(s) in Fairbanks, the successful candidate may be expected to help market engineering services to Federal, State, Municipal and Private clientele.

You will be responsible for ensuring projects follow applicable laws, standards, ordinances, and contract requirements. You will be responsible for preparation of project deliverables such as plats, maps, reports, electronic AutoCAD drawings, etc. You may also assist with written proposals and project fee estimates.

Skill Requirements: This person should have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment. A fundamental understanding of land surveying laws, practices, technologies and how they are applied to an assortment of projects is required. You should have a moderate to advanced understanding of some of the following programs: Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, GPS Processing Software, ESRI, and Carlson Survey software. Experience performing Horizontal and Vertical Control, Topographic, Right of Way, Boundary, Construction Layout, and Hydrographic surveys is essential. The ability to mentor junior staff to obtain the skills required to also become a Licensed Land Surveyor is a plus. This position would require the ability to perform both office and field survey functions. A willingness to perform your duties at a remote location or office on large scale projects for extended periods of time occasionally would also be desired.
